Vehicles

 Have you checked and confirmed all warrants of fitness are current?

 Is the vehicle maintenance programme up to date?

 Are vehicles always locked when unattended and valuables hidden from view?

Drivers

 Is a copy of each driver’s licence kept on file?

  Are authorised drivers required to advise of any endorsements to their license?

 Have you checked that vehicles are not being used by unlicensed drivers?

  If authorised to drive a van or a larger vehicle does the driver have the appropriate experience?

Note: Driver Experience Excesses
In addition to the Standard Excess of $500, the following driver experience excesses apply to indemnity for loss or damage when the person driving the Insured Vehicle at the time of the accident is:
a) under 21 years of age – $1,000
b) between 21 and 25 years of age – $500
c) 25 or more years of age and has held a licence to drive in New Zealand for less than 12 months – $500

Note: The following Driver exclusions are in place i.e. a claim will not be paid if a driver:

  • is under the influence of any intoxicating substance or drug to the extent that an offence is committed under the Land Transport Act 1998 and its amendments or any re-enactment of that Act; or
  • has failed to stop or remain at the scene following the occurrence of an Accident where required to do so by law; or
  • has a proportion of alcohol in the breath or blood which exceeds the legal limit; or
  • fails to supply a blood or breath sample as required by law; or
  • is not the holder of a current motor driver’s licence if one is required by law.
